the 33rd World Wide SketchCrawl will be held on October 15th 2011. The upcoming event post for SketchCrawl.com 33rd will be posted at that time as well.

This time we want to do it at Monte's in Todd Street, Great Food, Groovy Music, and really spectacular decorations.

From 2 pm we will go across the road to Melanka park to document "Alice Together"... Please contact if you are wanting to participate.

We had a nice turnout of genuine Alice artsy types today, possibly the best SC ever! It's going to be hard to top it next time. Courtenay played some wonderful, moving music in an acoustically amazing airplane hanger, whilst the rest of us chilled out and made some lovely sketches. A short trip out to the cemetary next door turned up a sketch of Albert Namitjira's grave - apparently all the great pioneers of this town are buried together there, including the powerfully eccentric Miss Olive Pink! The taxidermists' room will have to wait another day...

The next Alice Springs sketchcrawl (28th worldwide sketch-a-thon) will be held at Vietnamese Restaurant, Heffernan Road (off Colonel Rose Drive, on the way out to the airport) at noon Saturday 31st July.

Here in the central australian desert we had an amazing festival over the labour day weekend, and we went out with our little sketchpads & colours to capture some of the magic: see flickr box top right of screen...

The next sketchcrawl will be at the Central Australian Aviation Museum, Memorial Drive, Alice Springs, at 11am on Saturday 15th May. Come along!

Wide Open Spaces Sketchcrawl

Wide Open Spaces Desert Festival, Ross River, Alice Springs, Northern Territory April 30-May 2 Long weekend. There will be a sketchcrawl around the festival. We'll provide some paper & pencils/pens, watercolour paints, brushes etc, but strongly recommend that you BYO.

We'll meet at the art workshop at say around 10am and 2pm Saturday and Sunday. See Amanda, Karyn or Fiona. You may choose to chill out and do some basket weaving or checkout some of the other art workshops whilst you're in the space.

The idea is that there will be many wonderful photos of the event, but we, as sketchcrawlers will document the festival in drawings. So we'll traipse around drawing pictures of everything that we see, a bit like old school photo-journalism, except before cameras. Cool?

You won't need to register for this, just show up at the workshop area at 10am or 2pm with your sketching kit. Enjoy!

The next sketch crawl will be Saturday May 15th at the Connellan Airways Museum, in Memorial Drive, Alice Springs. Meeting at 11am next time. See you there!

My "Abstract" Sketching of Birds flying over MacDonnell Ranges in my Backyard

Outside Bo's, done while we were waiting for the Pub to open so we could have a beer..... it was hot that day aye?? I mean 37C degrees at 11.30am....!!

It was a interesting day, it was nice to get bit of motivation to get myself back to art and also observe how Kaz did her watercolour paints. By the way, nice drawings you have there Kaz, I like the Telegraph Tourist Centre and the Saloon.
